Regeneration of the traditional settlement of Oinousses

The project involves detailed documentation for the identification of the architectural and urban physiognomy of the traditional settlement of Oinousses. The study constitutes a framing of coordinated strategies for the revitalization of the settlement, taking into account geographical, historical, economical and social factors. The proposal consists of a series of actions that focus on; a. the creation of a grade - separated circulation system for pedestrians and vehicles b. the protection and enhancement of the built environment including the design of "cultural" footpaths in the settlement area . Each one of these footpaths connects focal points of natural, historical or cultural interest, public spaces proposed for redevelopment and existing buildings proposed for restoration and reuse in order to activate local heritage as a vital factor of local development of c. the improvement of the current regulatory framework for building construction, promoting a creative approach of  contemporary local architecture that derives from the values of traditional architecture.
