Footbridge in Ano Paphos
Participation in Architectural Competition
Location: Ano Paphos, Cyprus
Surface: 1410 s.m.
Supervision: 2011
Client: Municipality of Paphos

The objective of the project is the design of a pedestrian footbridge, in combination with the redevelopment of the surrounding public space. The proposal aims to recover the connection between the educational facilities located on either side of Tasou Papadopoylou Avenue, and the urban fabric of the city, creating a functional and inviting public area for the residents and the students. The design of the footbridge is based on the idea of a crooked line, defined by a distinctive steel structure, which develops in both vertical and horizontal surfaces of the bridge. The structure complements the landscape and creates a protected "passage", that signals the transaction from the open urban space to the school yards.
