Client: Municipality of Kalamaria
The object of the study is the redevelopment of an existing park in the southeastern boundaries of the municipality of Kalamaria, aiming at the creation of a lively gathering and Recreation Area, which will connect the sea front with the urban fabric. The redesign was based on the application of twisted engravings, which interact with the natural relief and its local dislocations. The proximity of the park to the sea was the stimulus for the creation of an extensive meeting area for the residents, turning to the sea front for the enjoyment of the landscape. In an effort to further improve the functionality of the park, a second area is formed, which this time turns towards the neighborhood and the street, inviting residents to take advantage of the new public space that is "born" in the area. The elevation difference between the two plateaus is bridged by the construction of a sloped wall, in which a linear cantilevered seating area is incorporated. On the western side of the park, the natural slope is utilized for the formation of a distinct unity of posture and rest organized by the placement of sedentary units of curved form.
