The building consists of the Aquarium and the Planetarium.
The reinforced concrete structural system of the Aquarium includes a mixed anti-seismic design formulation. A combination of usual parameters (safety, economy etc.) along with the increased architectural and serviceability demands and the long life ensuring of the project, are regarded as main design principles. Furthermore, timber beams are used for the tanks accommodation, while steel structures are implemented, regarding the entrances and the atrium. The Planetarium is a reinforced concrete structure of 21m diameter. A steel structure with perforated projection dome using aluminum sheets is placed inside the building.
