Shelter Construction in the Archaeological Site of "The Lyceum of Aristotle"
Location: Rigillis Street, Athens
Surface: 3,361 s.m. (shelter)
Supervision: 2003
Client: Minisry of Culture

The steel shelter for the protection of the archaeological site of "The Lyceum of Aristotle" has an arhed and folded shape simultaneously. The total dimensions are 56m x 60m, while the total height is 12m. The arched shape plays a substantial role for bridging the long span, by reducing the moment distribution in the middle of the span, since the loads are transferred to the restraints axially. The folded form increases importantly the stiffness resulting in the deflection limitation.
